My name is Mili Ali and this site consists of media content I've worked on.
My interest in photography started as a child, unconsciously. You see, my beautiful young mother had an obsession with picture taking so living across from a photography studio in Bangladesh was very convenient. The photographer that worked there adored me and I've spent a lot of my play time sitting in the studio, observing all the different portraits set under the glass table.
At the age of seven, my family and I immigrated to the United States, and this time we did not have any studio across from where we lived. Unable to afford a digital camera at that time, we frequently bought one of those one-time cameras. With no photographer around, I became the family's amateur photographer. I did not mind since I did not like being in front of the camera anyway.
Around my teenage years, we were able to afford not only a digital camera but also a camcorder. It was a chunky Samsung camcorder which was bought during the Summer, before we went to vacation in Bangladesh. Everyone in the family was excited about being filmed but I was more excited about filming.
Since then, everywhere I go, I bring along a camcorder or a camera. That was when I knew my future lies in filming. As a Digital Media Production student of SUNY New Paltz, I gained experience in storytelling though pictures, audio and visuals.
